Clinical Assistants

CABakerNicholas Baker, BDS

Nicholas (Nick) Baker obtained his Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Dundee in 1985. Having joined the Royal Navy in 1983, he left in 1991 having attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He immediately entered full-time general dental practice. Then, after a short while sharing his time between Mr. Sayegh's orthodontic practice and general dental practice, he moved to full-time in orthodontics sharing his time equally between Mr. Sayegh's and Mr. F. Stuart's (Morningside) orthodontic practices. Nick has been working (now full-time) in Mr. Sayegh’s orthodontic practice since 1992.

CAYoungGail Young, B.D.S. (Edin)

Gail graduated from Edinburgh Dental Hospital and School in June 1982. After graduating she worked in a general dental practice for 6 months. She then returned to work at the Edinburgh Dental Hospital as a House Officer in oral surgery, then paediatric dentistry and then into periodontics and orthodontics. She progressed form a junior House Officer to acting Registrar. From there Gail moved onto working for the community Dental Service in West Lothian, where she stayed for 14 years until 1998. Gail joined S.Y. Sayegh Orthodontics that year and is still there to this date.

Nursing Staff

The nursing staff is comprised of all registered dental nurses with great experience in dealing with orthodontic patients,. They are dedicated to providing the best care for you when you are in one of our dental chairs and even when you are not!

They are mostly trained to provide radiographs of you so you do not have to go to another centre to obtain your radiographs and also cut down your waiting time in the waiting room having to wait for that busy doctor to find time to take your x-rays.

They are also fully trained to give you oral hygiene instructions as well as explaining "do's" and "don'ts" about your braces.

A team of dedicated Dental Radiology qualified nurses will provide your dental radiographs in the practice, whether you are our patient or referred from another dental practice, so you don't have to go to that busy hospital and spend all day to have your x-rays taken.

Laboratory Technicians

We have an in-house laboratory dealing with the lab procedure of your braces day and night, providing excellent appliances at the shortest time, giving you the best quality of orthodontic appliances without having to wait too long for that busy lab on High Street to make your braces. The laboratory technicians are highly trained and amongst the most qualified specialised orthodontic technicians in the country.



Our reception staff are amongst the most experienced in the country with a great wealth of experience in dealing with immediate orthodontic problems with you on the telephone. They are dedicated to make your orthodontic experience as comfortable as possible by trying to find the best appointment day and time for you. They are also highly trained in dealing with your NHS paperwork, working against the NHS bureaucracy, and cutting down your waiting time for your treatment if you are an NHS patient.
